Conflict

Federally Mandated Disclosures of Financial Interest
On July 11, 1995, the National Science
Foundation and the Public Health
Service issued final regulations
governing the disclosure by investigators
of financial
interests that may be affected by the work performed under a sponsored
project. These regulations are
broader in scope than the existing
State of California
Conflict of Interest Policy, which only requires disclosure of financial
interest in the individual sponsor
itself. See Research Circular D.1. Policy
on Disclosure of Financial Interests

State-Mandated Disclosures of Financial
Interest
State regulations mandated by the Fair Political Practices Commission under
the Political Reform Act require that principal investigators must disclose
whether or not they have a direct or indirect financial interest in the sponsor
of research. This policy applies to contracts and grant as well gifts earmarked
for a specific project and/or investigator. See Research Circular D.5 Policy
on Acceptance of Private Funds for Research
