Milton Love, a research scientist at UC Santa Barbara’s Marine Science Institute, knows a lot about fish and it shows in his latest book, Certainly More Than You Want to Know About the Fishes of the Pacific Coast –– A Postmodern Experience. The book contains comprehensive information about 490 of the more than 1,500 fish species that inhabit the waters off the Pacific Coast. Besides the usual biological information about the animals, the entries are also augmented by a wealth of other data, including literary references, cartoons, poems, and related morsels of information.
