Sociologist recounts fieldwork experience with urban youth

In his latest book, sociology professor Victor Rios recounts his time doing field work with urban youth in Oakland.

Victor Rios, an associate professor of sociology at UC Santa Barbara, recently published Punished: Policing the Lives of Black and Latino Boys. The book recounts and examines the three years he spent doing field work with teenage black and Latino boys in Oakland. Rios continues to research the interactions between urban youth and authority figures in the Santa Barbara area.
