Discovery   The UCSB undergraduate research journal, which encompasses all academic fields that undergraduates study. Discovery invites original undergraduate research or writing, such as research papers, critical essays, and expanded term papers. Creative writing usually will not qualify. The manuscript form may vary with the field but must be considered worth publishing by a recommending faculty member—usually the student’s supervisor. Typical length is about 20 pages, but longer papers will be considered.

Please visit the Discovery information office, 6607 South Hall, to obtain additional information about the nature and preparation of manuscripts, the editorial process, copyright protection, and other publication details. The deadline usually is in June; please check the Department of English calendar.

Focus   A nationally recognized undergraduate film journal hosted by the Film Studies department that accepts submissions focusing on critical studies in media culture from all UCSB departments.

Journal of Young Investigators   International research journal of undergraduate science.

Literary Publications
