The P.I. Academy is a new annual program designed to orient faculty across all disciplines to UC Santa Barbara's research community and resources. Any faculty member is welcome to attend any topic of interest.

Through the P.I. Academy, faculty actively engage with presenters and facilitators on a number of core research topics designed to ensure investigators are well-positioned to apply for and secure external funding for their research and creative endeavors.

The FY20 schedule is below. Lunch will be offered at all workshops! Contact Kelly Pillsbury with questions.

Collaboration & Team Leadership
Collaborating across disciplines has become critical for advancing science and addressing complex questions. Research funding opportunities from most federal sponsors have reflected this shift to “team science” with calls for multi- and inter-disciplinary proposals. This session will provide an overview of preparing for and submitting these often large and complex proposals.

Data Management and the DMPTool
Developed in collaboration with the UCSB Library, this workshop will go over the essential elements of a data management plan. Come learn about the DMPTool, an online tool for crafting funder-specific data management plans, and other resources available through the Library.
