John Simon Guggenheim Fellowships are intended for mid-career individuals who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts and exhibit great promise for their future endeavors. 

Application

As these are fellowships, these are to be submitted by the candidate to fund a particular project. An applicant proposing a co-authored or co-created project must submit a joint application along with the other person; that is, each person must submit a separate application, indicating on each application that you are applying jointly.

Eligibility

Candidate must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada by the time of application.

General Timeline

  • Mid-August- application portal opens
  • Mid-September- deadline to submit applications
  • Mid-November- references contacted for recommendations
  • Mid-November- work example submission deadline
  • Mid-April- notification of results sent to all applicants by email
